Mentoring at Lumpkin County Elementary School
“KIDS FIRST AWARD”
Lumpkin County Elementary School would like to thank Mr. Bruce Kreitman for the countless hours that he has put in to mentoring our students over the past 2 years. Mr. K, as the kids call him, has served as a classroom mentor for various 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Grade classes and has devoted himself to their academic improvement. He works with students in small groups and assists the teacher by reinforcing skills previously taught in the whole class setting. Mr. K volunteers 3 days a week and is always eager to help out where needed.
It is apparent to everyone who knows and spends time with Mr. K that his heart and soul are dedicated to improving the quality of life of the students that he mentors. The students look forward to Mr. K helping out in their class and the teachers are always thankful for his invaluable assistance.
Lumpkin County Elementary School is truly blessed to have such a generous and selfless volunteer such as Mr. K helping our students. His impact and influence on our students is far reaching. The dedication and sincere compassion of all of our mentors is something to be admired and applauded.
Thank you, Bruce for your faithfulness to the Lumpkin County Elementary School students. We would like to honor Bruce Kreitman for his service in Classroom Mentoring by giving him the January 2010 “Kids First Award.”
Mentors serve students both academically and socially, helping the students to work through problems and realize their full potential. Anyone who would like to follow Bruce Kreitman’s example and volunteer to work with students may contact Roger Greer at the Lumpkin County Family Connection. For more information about becoming a mentor call 706-864-7047. Individuals may checkout the Family Connection website and the application can be download on-line at http://www.lumpkin.k12.ga.us/~fc/ (Written by Matt Cole, School Counselor at Lumpkin County Elementary
School)
Kids First Awards for MentoringThere are many of those among us who are superb at identifying the needs they see around our community. There are more still, who long for things to change and who wonder what impact they can make. There are a few however, who can clearly see what needs to be done and who make their presence known by taking action. One of those individuals amongst us is Bob Monroe. |
