Step 1: Complete a Mentor-Volunteer Application
A. Personal Reference Forms
B. Background Check
Step 2: Attend a new Volunteer Orientation-Training
This is generally a one hour training and orientation on the goals and objectives of the Mentor Program. We define different roles for volunteers and opportunities to serve our students. We covered expectations and guidelines for volunteering, support and resources for the volunteer.
Step 3: Process the volunteer application, references checked, and background check is complete
Step 4: If it’s an individual mentoring application being processed, then parents are contacted about the opportunity for a mentor for their child and parental permission is received.
Step 4: School Counselor contacts the volunteer to set-up the first meeting and introduce the mentor to their mentee’.
Step 5: Volunteer is matched to their assigned volunteer role. (Individual mentoring, Classroom Mentoring, Tutoring)
